They ferried between Crete, Santorini, Naxos, Paros, Andros, and Mykonos and found each island different in character from the previous one. Beautiful harbors and photogenic white and blue buildings were the norm, but even more, Roger enjoyed exploring villages and winding mountain roads far from the tourist centers. He photographed ancient Byzantine churches, bell towers, narrow alleys, hidden doorways, and many other architectural features of the islands.
