Posted March 12, 2022Roger just completed the second of two long trips to Europe in search of subjects for his latest boat paintings. He spent a month on the northwest coast of Spain in June and another month in Bavaria, Croatia, and Italy. He discovered more harbors with wooden skiffs along the Costa da Morte (Spain) and also near Naples (Italy). Of course, it's not only about the scenery, but also about the seafood and wine!

Manitou Galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has two locations - one at 123 West Palace Avenue, just off the plaza, and the other at 225 Canyon Road.
Arcature Fine Art in beautiful Palm Beach, Florida, is at 318 Worth Avenue. The Arcature Group also shows Roger's paintings at Gallery Valentine in East Hampton, New York, at 33 Newtown Lane.
McRae Litt Fine Art is at 141 E Meadow Drive in Solaris, right in the heart of Vail Village in Vail, Colorado.We are sad to announce that Adagio Galleries in Palm Desert closed on June 14, 2013. We are grateful for the many years of friendship and support from Mark Prather, Sonny Ruggiero, and Julie Makrianis. We also have fond memories of Adagio's years in Palm Springs and of Ralph and Ann Lewan, Paul Lewan, and Gail. We will miss the many faithful collectors who made openings at Adagio so much fun for us. Roger has brought home the few remaining paintings. Posted September 28, 2008Roger and his wife, Mary, spent most of May traveling in the Greek islands. They ferried between Crete, Santorini, Naxos, Paros, Andros, and Mykonos and found each island different in character from the previous one. Beautiful harbors and photogenic white and blue buildings were the norm, but even more, Roger enjoyed exploring villages and winding mountain roads far from the tourist centers. He photographed ancient Byzantine churches, bell towers, narrow alleys, hidden doorways, and many other architectural features of the islands.

Posted October 22, 2007Roger Hayden Johnson and his wife, Mary, recently returned from a three-week trip to Umbria and Tuscany. Roger explored the rural areas around Perugia and Montepulciano. He is now beginning a series of new paintings of Italian vineyards at harvest time, stone farm buildings, and fog-shrouded landscapes.

Since his return, he has been working on paintings of rustic farm buildings, colorful villas, and grand palazzos in the vineyards, olive groves, and cypresses of the beautiful rolling Tuscan countryside. She plans to move to Baltimore in the fall to begin work as an artist. Look for her oil paintings on her own web site soon!

Posted July 2, 2004Roger Hayden Johnson recently returned from a two-week trip to France, where he photographed landscapes in Burgundy and the Perigord--an unspoiled area of southwestern France known for its truffles, its foie gras, its walnuts, and its castles overlooking gently-flowing rivers and tiny villages. In his Santa Fe show, he will have several small paintings of the beautiful rural, stone buildings that he discovered.
